Large French metal grape hod
Large original French grape hod/carrier.
These heavy metal carriers were used on French vineyards by pickers during the grape harvest. Here is a large example with original leather straps. The straps can easily be removed or we can do that for you. Unusually this example has a wooden back which probably explains why it is in such good condition. This hod has been painted a good brown colour all over and bears the initials of the vineyard. These hods lend themselves to various uses but, in particular, make fantastic log baskets. This example usefully has a hook so it can to hooked to a wall for additional support.
